Former Seahawk John Moffitt Defends Cam Newton, Calls Women 'Incapable' of Covering Football

John Moffitt doubled down on Cam Newton's sexism.

As if the NFL isn't already dealing with coaches (allegedly) sniffing coke on camera and polarizing national anthem protests, the league is now having to deal with the fallout of Cam Newton chuckling when Jourdan Rodrigue asked him about routes. While Newton did ultimately apologize for what he called his "extremely unacceptable" remarks, it didn't take long for Dannon to ax Newton from its promotional campaign.

That said, former NFL lineman John Moffitt decided to hop on Facebook and add his completely unnecessary two cents to this debate.

"Women don't know football," Moffitt began, "most guys barely do. Stop coming into male spaces and demanding respect.. guys care about the substance of things not the appearence (sic)." If that's not bad (and, frankly, incorrect), Moffitt then drops this ridiculous line about if Rodrigue actually asked the question on her own or not.

"Just because networks like a sexy sideline reporter for you to look at doesn't mean cam is sexist for questioning the authenticity of her game knowledge- he was laughing because she was fed that question like most of her kind are."

Even if TV producers are hiring women because of their appearance, that doesn't mean they don't know what they are speaking on. And even still, that wouldn't make Cam any less sexist. Get your head out of your ass, Moffitt.

He continues, saying if women are "so knowledgeable with a game they can't play" that they should do play-by-play or color commentary... as if they can just walk into a booth, throw on a headset, and start talking. C'mon, son. Why don't I just hop on the field and get on the offensive line while we're at it, right?

Moffitt ends with his most ridiculous remark paired by one that appears to highlight his real intent here. "Women don't really know the game," he says, "they are incapable. Yet in this society where a women can do anything a man can do and men can do nothing this is a rock and a hard place."

So is it that he truly thinks women are "incapable" of knowing what routes are, or that he's just pissed that we live in a world where "women can do anything a man can do"? You might think it's funny, Moffitt, but you're part of a ridiculous class of people who are laughing.

Judging by the fact that Moffitt was cut by the Eagles in 2015 and hasn't played pro football since, I'm not sure if he can even do what other men can do. Well, he can get on social media and spout his Neanderthal viewpoints for the world to see, and get called out for it.

John Moffitt has always been one of those morons who thinks he's really smart and society has indulged him so of course he'd fuck this up.
John Moffitt has always been a world class idiot so as much as this should be shocking, stupid people say stupid things all the time. https://t.co/ELyILn6OKu
John Moffitt's opinions on women in sports hold about as much substance as his meaningless career did, I guess.

On one final, interesting note, Moffitt actually has something in common with Jourdan Rodrigue (aside from knowledge of football): they both appear to be racist.
