Conor McGregor didn’t win his much-anticipated fight with Floyd Mayweather on Saturday night. He actually lost by TKO in the 10th round, which might seem like a huge L to some people given how much trash he talked leading up to the fight.

But McGregor didn’t lose in the way that most people expected him to. In the months, weeks, and days leading up to their match, most people predicted that Mayweather would destroy McGregor and knock him out in the first or second round, even though Mayweather isn’t really known for handing out KOs. McGregor, most people said, would be no match for the 49-0 boxer.

But that didn’t turn out to be the case. McGregor more than held his own for the first three rounds of the fight. And in fact, the entire first half of the fight was competitive. And while Mayweather eventually seized control of the fight and overpowered the fatigued McGregor in the later rounds, it’s hard not to give props to McGregor for sticking with Mayweather the way he did.

At the moment, there are plenty of people celebrating McGregor’s loss. But there are also many fans who are going out of their way to talk about how surprised they were to see McGregor do what he did on Saturday night. Take a look at some of their reactions below:

McGregor really did surprise me tho. He went out of his sport and up against the best and still held his own
