The new fight of the century is edging closer, with Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor due to touch gloves on the 27th of August.
It’s set to be bigger than Mayweather’s previous fight of the century, against Manny Pacquiao, but so far it seems the best fight is going to continue to be fought outside the ring.
McGregor and Mayweather have been throwing shade at each other before this fight was even announced, and it doesn’t look like either of the two is going to stop swinging anytime soon. McGregor seems determined to get under Mayweather’s skin by saying just about anything he can, but it doesn’t seem to be really working.
Also this suit was awesome.
There’s a lot of skepticism surrounding McGregor’s ability to actually box; if you think McGregor will inevitably revert to his UFC instincts, you can grab $9 for him getting disqualified for throwing a kick.
The Irishman is known for his fiery temper, and would you truly be surprised if he just cracked it and round-house kicked Pretty Boy Floyd if it was obvious McGregor was going to lose?
Mayweather is one of the most technically gifted boxers of our generation and he has a reputation for being one of the best defensive pugilists ever. With this in mind, you can fetch $3.75 for the fight to go the distance and Mayweather to get the win by decision, or $1.67 if you think Money will add to his 26 wins by knockout.
It would be brilliant if McGregor has been fooling us this the whole time and actually knows how to box. If he can go the distance against Mayweather and win on decision there’s a cool $21 available there.
You never know, crazier things have happened.
Jeff Horn beat Pacquiao and no one saw that coming.
Can McGregor pull off the biggest upset in boxing history? Mayweather has come out of retirement just for this fight due to McGregor’s baiting and it’s not looking likely that he’s going to miss an opportunity to knock that smug smile off of his face.
McGregor has the flair and speed to throw barrages of punches at Floyd, but Mayweather is so technically gifted that it will be interesting to see if he takes the fight into his terms and puts McGregor on the canvas early.
Mayweather made no mistake last time out against Manny Pacquiao, and McGregor is also coming off a last start win. It all bodes well for an interesting matchup.
