An extremely crappy stretch of basketball, in which seemingly everyone within the vicinity of the court completely forgot the rules, occurred this past weekend at the FIBA U19 Women’s Basketball World Cup. Let us establish the context for you, and then you can watch the play above and be very unimpressed.

Russia, the squad in red, was supposed to be scoring on the hoop to the left of the TV cameras. However, a Russian player touches the ball while she's out of bounds, meaning it's supposed to be the white team's (Spain) ball. They're supposed to go right. You've seen a basketball game.

Instead, for some reason, Russia retained the ball. They then proceed to go down to Spain's end of the court (committing a backcourt violation in the process), where they sink a wide open three. During this entire ordeal, Spain was also playing some half-assed defense to protect the wrong basket (though, frankly, a few of their players do look a bit confused).

The puzzled officials who knocked out the real refs and stole their uniforms then got together and, after about a minute, took the three away from Russia and gave it to Spain.

Despite the display of complete incompetence (all around, really) Russia won the game by a score of 77-58.
