Shane McMahon Survived a Helicopter Crash—and No One Is Surprised by It

Shane McMahon survived a helicopter crash that took place on Wednesday afternoon.

Shane McMahon was on a small helicopter that made a crash landing in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Long Island, New York on Wednesday morning. McMahon, the son of WWE founder Vince McMahon, and a pilot identified as Mario Regtien were on board a Robinson R-44 helicopter that experienced engine failure and conducted an emergency landing in the water. Both men were unharmed during the crash.

McMahon and Regtien were pulled from the water by emergency responders shortly after they landed. They spoke with reporters near the scene about what took place. Regtien explained how the engine malfunctioned and made it impossible for him to fly the helicopter. McMahon, meanwhile, talked about how scary it was to find himself in the middle of an emergency situation on a helicopter.

"It’s very unsettling when all of a sudden you have something happen," McMahon said. "You hear a bang, and then you start saying, 'We’re going to do an emergency landing in the water.' So yes, it was very unnerving. But…Mario was super calm, which made me super calm. And we landed perfectly."

McMahon and Regtien were planning on traveling from New York City to Westhampton, New York prior to the incident. McMahon thanked everyone involved in the rescue efforts on Twitter on Wednesday afternoon:

There were a lot of reactions from those on social media once the news about McMahon surviving the crash started to make the rounds. Many WWE fans sent their well wishes to McMahon and the entire McMahon family. But many also joked about McMahon being "invincible" and "immortal" after seeing him add "Survived a helicopter crash" to his growing list of accomplishments:

Shane McMahon has jumped off Hell in a Cell and the Titantron, a helicopter crash is just a regular Wednesday for him.

In all seriousness, it’s great to hear that McMahon and his pilot weren’t hurt at all in the crash. The situation obviously could have been much worse, and we’re glad that everything turned out okay for the two men.
