Step aside, Stephen Curry. You have been one-upped, LaMelo Ball. We know you pointed to the halfcourt line and drained a three from there—impressive, no doubt—but could you sink three in a row from that distance when you were an adolescent?

Yes, that’s exactly the feat one heroic kid pulled off at halftime of a University of North Carolina versus NC State men’s basketball game earlier this month. He drained three straight halfcourt jumpers—or, well, maybe you’d call them runners.

The young man: Asher Lucas. The feat: well, watch for yourself.

The crowd cheered after Lucas made the first half-court shot, exploded after the second, and absolutely lost its mind—as did Lucas’ fellow ball boys—after the third.

He got a running start and launched himself into each shot, but the unconventional form makes the accomplishment even more impressive.

Also, he could have stopped after two. How about the confidence to keep going for a third? Give the kid a scholarship, Roy.

The game took place Jan. 8, but the video—presumably shot by a relative of Lucas—was posted this week. It was a snoozer of a game. The Tar Heels led 56-23 at the half, and the show Lucas put on woke up the crowd.

UNC dominated the in-state rivalry showdown, 107-56, but Asher Lucas was that day’s real winner.

The Tar Heels are undefeated since Lucas’ beast-mode halftime performance, and he is likely on the radar of All-American Team voters nationwide.
