Breaking up with someone you’re dating through a text message is a pretty lame thing to do. But breaking up with someone you’re engagedto through a text message? Well, that’s just downright unacceptable. If you were planning on spending the rest of your life with someone, the absolute least you could do is pick up the phone and call them if you're going to break up with them. And even then, that’s not really the best way to go about doing it. Calling off an engagement should be an in-person thing.

She also decided to make a sign dedicated to her ex. It read: "My fiancé dumped me in a text message. He should have waited until after Christmas. #ESPN #NothingInCommon #MNF #ghosting."

Alex McDaniel, an editor for the Oxford Eagle, was at the game and snapped a photo of the woman holding the sign, and it quickly went viral. Most people praised Brenna for showing up at the game and creating the sign for her ex:

The sign got such a strong response that Brenna eventually took to Instagram to thank McDaniel for putting it out there into the world through social media:

Let this be a lesson to you all: Breaking up is hard to do—but don’t do it through a text message right before Christmas. Or else…
