NFL legend and ESPN analyst Randy Moss feels some type of way about college football players skipping their respective bowl games.

“I remember Deacon Jones calling our era soft. You can really, really call this era soft,” Moss said on ESPN’s Saturday version of Sunday NFL Countdown.

The issue has caused some division among football fans. Surefire first-round prospects such as LSU’s Leonard Fournette and Stanford’s Christian McCaffrey have announced they will not participate in their bowl games.

LSU will play in the Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl–yep, that’s a thing–against Louisville; Stanford will take on North Carolina in the Hyundai Sun Bowl. So it should be noted that neither of these teams is playing in a major bowl game. It’s not like they’re in the College Football Playoff.

And from the players’ perspective, they’re looking out for themselves. An ACL tear could cost them tens of millions of dollars.

But if you’re a fan of either of the teams–or even just a fan of good college football–you don’t like it at all. You want the entertainment value. It’s similar to NBA teams resting their stars; you understand why they do it–self-interest–but you wish they’d prioritize others’ interests instead.

Fans were split on Moss’ take.

Regardless of where you come down on the topic (I personally think Fournette and McCaffrey are acting wisely), Randy Moss knows what it’s like to be a first-round prospect. He went No. 21 to the Minnesota Vikings in 1998. So, naturally, his perspective is deserving of respect, and probably holds more insight than most of ours'.
