Draymond Green Says He Was "Pissed Off" Over Comments Kristaps Porzingis Made About Him

Draymond Green managed to find motivation in some things that Kristaps Porzingis said about his game earlier this week.

Sports history is littered with professional athletes building up straw men and twisting logic into a pretzel to convince themselves that everyone is against them. It's how star players can constantly gripe about "disrespect" from both the media and their peers, and it's how teams picked to make it to the Super Bowl/NBA Finals/World Series before the season can utter the term "nobody believed in us" with a straight face in an attempt to rouse teammates during pregame speeches.

However, even by the low, low standards needed to persuade you that the whole world is against you as a world class athlete, some comments that Draymond Green made about Kristaps Porzingis following the Warriors' game against the Knicks on Thursday night make no damn sense.

Earlier in the week, Porzingis called Green "one of the top defenders in the league," which, to us, sounds like a compliment. He then added that playing against Green was "going to be a challenge," because the two matched up twice last season and Green played "really well defensively" against him. That's when Kristaps made the apparent mistake of saying that he was looking forward to facing Green and that he was "ready for him."

On Thursday night, the two teams finally played, and Golden State pulled off a 103-90 victory at home. Porzingis scored just 8 points on 4-for-13 shooting. And afterwards, Green said that his rep from Nike showed him what Porzingis said about him right before the game started and that it "immediately pissed me off." He further added that he thought the Knicks' big man "made it real personal" by talking about him, which is just...wait, what?

Even with all the culture shock that undoubtedly comes with moving to New York City from Latvia to become a celebrity at the age of 19, this has to be one of the more confusing things Porzingis has experienced yet. But you also have to give it up for Green: The guy can clearly find motivation in anything. Hey, whatever works, right?
