During the seventh inning of Game 1 of the World Series on Wednesday night, the television cameras focused on one fan who was sad that his beloved Cleveland Indians were losing 5-1 to the Chicago Cubs. This particular, so far unnamed, fan caught the attention of TV viewers and snarky Twitter users alike with his Native American-style headdress and full facepaint. The fact that he looked so sad just added an extra layer of schadenfreude to many who already have an issue with the Indians' controversial team name and mascot.

With the Indians in the Series, their name and the smiling Chief Wahoo mascot are yet again in the national spotlight, and the league is even promising to look into the issue (after the World Series, of course). In this context, it's no wonder that the sad Indians fan came in for intense mockery and anger on social media.

Sad Indians fan was not any happier by the end of the night—the Indians ended up losing 5-1.
