Klay Thompson is very angry with one specific quote that appeared in a story about Draymond Green that ESPN published on Wednesday. In reality, there are a number of things in the story that Thompson and his teammates could be mad at it. But Thompson has a particular issue with a quote that features a Golden State team official referring to the Warriors as "cowards" in reference to the way they played in the 2016 NBA Finals after Green was suspended for Game 5.

While speaking with the media after practice on Friday, Thompson made it extremely clear that he has a problem with someone lobbing an insult at the Warriors like that but choosing to remain anonymous. "The article pissed me off for this reason," he said. "If you call someone a coward, how are you not going to put your name on that quote? Why don't you put your name to it and then you can call us cowards? That's fine. Tell us that. But to say we played like cowards and you're not going to quote the guy who said it, that's weak to me."

Furthermore, Thompson said that he's angry that former Warriors player Marreese Speights was quoted in the story as saying that Green and Thompson "got into it a lot" during practices last season but that ESPN allowed whoever called the Warriors "cowards" to go unnamed. "How you gonna quote Mo [Speights] and not anyone else?" he asked. "That actually got under my skin. You're gonna call us cowards and not put your name on the quote? You know what I mean? You're not gonna quote who said it? Get out of here. That made me mad. We played our hearts out that whole playoffs and you're gonna call us cowards and not put your name on it? Get out of here."

There are actually multiple team officials who spoke with ESPN without revealing their identities. But it seems the official who used the word "cowards" is the only one who got to Thompson. If you didn't get a chance to check it out, you can read ESPN's story on Green here.
