Police in Charlotte are reportedly on high alert after learning of a plan, by protestors, to block the exits of Bank of America Stadium prior to the Panthers-Vikings game. Seeing as how that game began at 1 p.m. E.T. and it's currently *checks watch* after that, it would seem that the initial scheme was unsuccessful.

The alleged plot was said to be discovered on Saturday night, and was to involve protestors gathering at a park roughly a mile from the Panthers' homefield Sunday morning before marching to the stadium in an effort to block the entrances (including the ones for both players and officials).

While that plan might've looked good on paper, the players for both teams were said to enter the stadium without hassle. The most well known of those players, Carolina quarterback Cam Newton, sported a warmup shirt complete with a Martin Luther King Jr. quote on the back, saying "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere."

And, while demonstrators were unsuccessful in rendering the entrances useless, they still stood outside the stadium and held signs and chanted. Many photos of the protest were captured by Twitter user @TylerRickyTynes:

The event was met with an overexaggerated police presence, which has become the norm:

The group protest also took a knee during the anthem, a la Colin Kaepernick:

The move by protestors follows a series of demonstrations that occurred over the past week following the police shooting death of 43-year-old Keith Lamont Scott.
