A crazy person playing junior college football was arrested Saturday night in California after punching a referee in a game between Mt. San Antonio College and Ventura College.
The player who punched said ref was Mt. SAC freshman offensive lineman Bernard Schirmer. The incident occurred after the official tried to hold him back while he was jawing with a player on Ventura. As you probably would've guessed, the official did not remain in the game.
The contest was halted as each team tried to figure out what happened, and Schirmer was immediately ejected. Then, after cops reviewed the tape, Schirmer was arrested on suspicion of battery:
The player-on-zebra crime is certainly not unprecedented, as you may recall the controversy caused by those safeties that blindsided that high school ref in Texas last year. But according to the VC Star, Schirmer's punch could lead to him being banned from the sport for five years.
