Dallas Cowboys linebacker Rolando McClain is already on the hook with a 10-game suspension from the NFL for violating the league's substance abuse policy. And now, according to Bleacher Report's Jason Cole, he's also been been drinking more than his fair share of purple drank (Sprite plus cough syrup). Abuse of the substance has been tied to rapid weight gain and, wouldn't you know it, that's reportedly what happened to McClain, who is said to be "incredibly out of shape" after putting on 40 pounds.

The resulting weight gain has some people within the Cowboys' organization thinking he'll never play for them again. And, let's be honest, if you have too much baggage for the Cowboys, you probably have too much baggage for pretty much every other franchise in the NFL.

McClain, the eighth overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, had started 23 games over the past two seasons with Dallas, recording 117 tackles, three interceptions, and three sacks in that span. This past offseason he re-signed with the team on a one-year/$5 million deal, though it was reported that the team was upset with him for going AWOL on the first day of the team's training camp.

The no-show led to a Dallas News reporter asking team owner Jerry Jones why they don't just cut him:

Why not just release Rolando McClain? Jerry Jones: "A lot of nuances that we're not going to get into."

McClain originally joined the Cowboys after retiring from the league with the Baltimore Ravens back in 2013, at the age of 23, following a number of arrests.

Before that, he was waived by the team that drafted him, the Oakland Raiders, after a series of off-the-field incidents.
