Sunday afternoon the U.S. Men's Basketball team spanked Serbia, which was not unexpected. And afterward Carmelo Anthony gave an emotional interview wherein he admitted that today was the last game he'd play for Team USA, retiring as the team's all-time top scorer and also as the only man to win three Olympic basketball gold medals.
However during the postgame Q&A he also ventured outside of basketball to give his thoughts on the current fractured state of the country:
While he'll undoubtedly get dumped on again once the Knicks get off to like, I don't know, an 8-11 start this season, his Sunday afternoon words struck a sympathetic cord on Twitter:
It would appear that he actually meant it when he said this. Congrats on gold No. 3.
