For the first time, a transgender person has thrown out the ceremonial first pitch at a Toronto Blue Jays game.

Pride Toronto Board Secretary Rachel Lauren Clark is the first openly trans person to throw out the pitch before a game at the Rogers Centre in Toronto. The historic pitch took place on Thursday at the teams' annual Pride Night at the Rogers Centre, where the Blue Jays played the Baltimore Orioles.

"I'm very pleased to represent the LGBT community and especially transgender and genderqueer people, for whom going out to the baseball game is not always accessible," Clark said in a release. "I hope this historic moment will send a message that everyone, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identify will, as Robert Frost once eloquently put, 'never feel more at home than at a ballgame.'"

The historic pitch took place on the 9th day of Pride Month in Toronto.
