Police are launching an inquiry into alleged match fixing in the NRL, focusing on two 2015 matches, SBS reports.

This was confirmed yesterday by a NSW Police spokesperson, who said the Organised Crime Squad would be looking into the matches.

While it’s yet to be confirmed, reports have suggested that Manly's Round-16 20-8 loss to South Sydney, as well as their 20-16 loss to Parramatta in round 24 will be the focus of the investigation.

The last time match-fixing was an issue for the NRL was 2010, when the late Ryan Tandy was found guilty of manipulating the first scoring point of a game between Canterbury and North Queensland.

Tandy was fined $4000 and placed on a 12-month good behaviour bond for the infringement.

The scandal comes in light of recent warnings for players for consorting with convicted criminals and underworld figures, with Parramatta’s Corey Norman and Junior Paulo and Penrith’s James Segeyaro finding themselves in trouble for allegedly doing so last week.
