Mesut Ozil is making the most of his time before Euro 2016 begins.

On an end-of-season break this week, the Arsenal midfielder flew to Jordan, where he visited Zataari, a Syrian refugee camp, to play football with the children living there.

Ozil was given a tour of the camp and introduced to the children residing there. He then presented the kids with footballs and clothing, before taking part in a kickabout with them later in the day.

Zataari is home to 80,000 refugees and Mohammad al Zu'bi – a football coach living in the camp – said the importance of Ozil's visit shouldn't be underestimated:

"[Having] a player like Ozil in the camp and someone famous like him visiting gives motivation to the children. It shows that the big players are thinking about them, care about them. Having a big player like Ozil who plays with them and joins in with the children makes us feel that there are people thinking about football in the camp."

Ozil spent €300,000 on surgery for Brazilian children in 2014.

After the World Cup in Brazil two years ago, Ozil offered to pay €300,000 on life saving surgeries for children in need of help. He was applauded worldwide for his geneorisity, and received a Laureus Award for it in the same year.
