Joe Cole is set to end his career in the United States...with Freddy Adu as a teammate.

In what would almost certainly be classified as a dream midfield for anyone still fighting their way through Football Manager 2005, two of football's most famous wonderkids will be linking up with the Tampa Bay Rowdies of the North American Soccer League (NASL).

The 34-year-old ex-England midfielder – who was capped 56 times – is out of contract at Coventry City in the summer and his current manager, Tony Mowbray, told The Coventry Telegraph he's off to play in Tampa:

"Joe's going to join Tampa Bay and it might happen pretty quickly if he can get international clearance."

Freddy Adu joined Tampa Bay Rowdies in July 2015 and signed a contract extension last December.

Adu made the Rowdies the 12th club of his career last summer. In eight appearances for the club, he made three assists.

While there's no prospect of promotion from the NASL to MLS, it's seen as the second tier level of football in the United States. The Rowdies' fiercest rivals – Fort Lauderdale Strikers – are part-owned by Brazil legend, Ronaldo.
