Jaguars Sent Their Own Player to London to Announce Pick But Ended Up Trading It Away

On the bright side, free trip!

Last month, the Jacksonville Jaguarsput together a once-in-a-lifetime promotion that would give one lucky fan an opportunity to go with defensive tackle Michael Bennett to London and announce the team's fifth round pick on Day 3 of the 2016 NFL Draft. But then, the Jaguars encountered a one-in-a-lifetime opportunity of their own.

Shortly after the start of the second round, the Jaguars set their sights on moving up to take UCLA linebacker Myles Jack, who fell out of the first round amid concerns over his right knee. Jacksonville found a partner in the Baltimore Ravens who were willing to swap their 36th overall pick for the Jags' 38th pick and fifth round selection. But wait, wasn't that the pick Bennett and the fan were supposed to announce? The former Ohio State product was wondering the same thing.

HAHAHAHAHA jacksonville flew me to London to announce the 146 pick. They just traded it away. Thanks for the flight! Lol

@carlolewis I'm sure we'll announce a 5th round pick or something

It appears that the Jaguars (may have) had a plan in place, just in case a situation like this were to come about.

@Jaguars oh nice. Shows how much I know.

And of course, Bennett couldn't have felt some type of way about trading the pick when it involves getting someone like Jack.

Ended up getting Myles jack out of it. That's one hell of a trade. I see you mr Caldwell

Speaking of Jaguars general manager, Mr. Dave Caldwell, he didn't even know about the promotion, telling ESPN, "Um, oh, is that right? Can he do the sixth? He got a free vacation."
