Fremantle Dockers' Michael Walters is Dabbing for Charity

Just when you thought the dab was dead.

You might have thought the dab died when Dab Daddy Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers went down in Superbowl 50. Or possibly, you thought it died when Hillary Clinton performed the famous maneuver on the Ellen show.

You'll be happy to know the dab lives on in Australian sports however, as players across both codes have pulled off the move in 2016. Perhaps because the dab wasn't poppin' during the last footy season and our homegrown athletes didn't want to miss out, we've seen NRL stars Shaun Johnson and Roger Tuivasa-Shek hit the dab during February's Auckland Nines, and now Freo's Michael Walters has introduced the dab to the AFL.

Walters is actually dabbing for a cause however, as he revealed in an Instagram post 2 weeks ago. "This is my #purplehazepledge every goal Harley Bennell kicks he will do the DAB and I will donate $100."

In yesterday's game against the Gold Coast Suns, Walters himself kicked a goal, and celebrated by hitting the dab. While raising $100 for charity was certainly appreciated, I think we'll all thank Walters for truly bewildering the homegrown commentators. "Err, Jonno. A very interesting celebration, take us through that one?”
