The Cubs crushed the Reds 16-0 Thursday night behind one of sports’ greatest achievements: a no-hitter. Chicago’s bearded righty ace Jake Arrieta threw 119 pitches (71 strikes) in his incredible outing.

Arrieta walked four and struck out six as he stymied the Reds. He threw his first career no-hitter less than a year ago: Aug. 31, 2015, against the Dodgers.

Arrieta's impressive night broke a long-standing Reds’ streak:

Streak of 7,109 games without reg season no-hitter against them over for #reds. A's now on clock. Were combined no-hit 7/13/91

Arrieta even went 2 for 4, drew a walk, and scored a run at the plate. The 30-year-old is an early candidate for the Cy Young Award, the same honor he claimed last year.
