In his three seasons in the NBA, Russ Smith played 131 minutes in 27 regular season games and scored a total of 53 points. In tonight's NBA D-League game against the Canton Charge, Smith set a new record for points in game with 65 points, surpassing the previous mark held by another Delaware 87ers player, Jordan McRae.
Smith went 24-42 from the field and 16-20 from the charity stripe. Even with Smith's historic performance, the Sevens still fell to the Charge, 140-129.
