Nelly is a great athlete and, more specifically, a solid basketball player. He actually won the MVP award at the end of the 2006 NBA All-Star Celebrity Game. But is he good enough at basketball to beat Allen Iverson in a game of HORSE?

Apparently, yes—as long as AI has had a few drinks before taking the court. During a recent interview that we did with AI, we asked the former NBA superstar about the time that Nelly reportedly beat him in a game of HORSE, and he revealed that it did, in fact, happen. But according to him, it only happened because AI wasn’t in the right state of mind at the time.

“Me and Nelly played HORSE,” he said. “He’s a friend of mine. I remember one night we went to Jermaine Dupri’s studio, and I had been drinking before I got there. We went into the gym, and he beat my ass. Then he went on 106 & Park and bragged about it. So the next time we played, I made sure that I came prepared. I hadn’t drunk anything and beat his ass. And during that game, he was saying, ‘You need to get him a couple drinks.’ I told him, ‘Nah. Not today. You ain’t going to brag on this one.’”

You can check out the rest of our interview with AI here. There are plenty of other gems in it, including one about the time he (maybe?) played Mase for $10,000 and another about his love for TGI Friday’s.
