On Sunday night, Kobe Bryant will play in the final NBA All-Star Game of his career, so many people want to see Kobe go out and attempt to win the MVP award during it. It seems like it’d be pretty easy for him to win it, too, if he really wanted to. Guys don’t usually play all that much defense during the game to begin with and no one is going to dare to try and block Kobe at any point during the game (er, right?), so Kobe could probably put up 20 or 25 points and at least put himself into position to win the MVP award.

As it turns out, though, Kobe isn’t all that worried about winning MVP. In fact, it doesn’t even sound like he’s going to play much. Fans might try to convince him otherwise, but last night, Kobe told reporters that he feels “horrible” at this point in the season and that he hasn’t made winning the MVP award during the All-Star Game a priority:

Kobe on if he'll go for the All-Star MVP: "Why? I'm good. I'm good. I'll make a couple jump shots."

That approach could change. When thousands of people are chanting Kobe’s name on Sunday night, who knows? Maybe he’ll take over the All-Star Game for short stretches and put up enough points to be considered for the MVP award. But for now, it’s not his goal. For once, Kobe sounds content with simply enjoying the All-Star experience.
