Last week, Johnny Manziel’s father Paul Manzielspoke to The Dallas Morning News about his son’s recent issues. He revealed that, if the younger Manziel doesn’t get help, he believes that he “won’t live to see his 24th birthday.” Now, his 73-year-old grandfather Norman Paul Manziel has spoken up about Manziel’s relationship with his ex-girlfriend Colleen Crowley and, well, let’s just say that he shouldn’t have.

“The girl has her problems,” Manziel’s grandfather told the Daily Mail. “I’m not saying Johnny’s troubles are all caused by her, but…”

Yeah, so that’s proooobably not what he should be saying right now, especially since her lawyer went on the record on Monday and said that Crowley suffered a ruptured eardrum during a recent altercation with Manziel. But he did. And later, he also said that he thinks Manziel just needs privacy to get his life together.

“Everyone just needs to leave the boy alone,” he said. “He needs his privacy right now. If he was left alone, he’d be all right. But he can’t sit down without being bothered. His privacy starts where your nose ends. He’s not public property. He doesn’t owe anybody anything.”

He’s probably not wrong about that part. But at this point, it seems like Manziel needs more than just privacy to take care of whatever issues he has.
