The Pelicans were supposed to be better than 22-33 and Anthony Davis was supposed to continue improving in another potential MVP season. But neither has happened, and some thought Davis regressed in some aspects of his game.

Then today happened. The Pelicans beat the Pistons 111-106. Davis also had a decent game. He did OK with 59 points and 20 rebounds.

Davis' career highlight of a game joins him with Shaquille O'Neal as the only two players in the last 40 seasons with over 55 points and 20 rebounds in a game, according to ESPN Stats & Info. O'Neal wasn't only 22 years old when he did so.

Anthony Davis' teammates had to cool him off after scoring 59 points 💦 #Pelicans https://t.co/T1Zb7Q5zRP
