A runner on Virginia Tech's cross country team was arrested and charged with the murder of a 13-year-old girl from Blacksburg, Va., who had been missing since Wednesday. Her remains were found in Surry County, N.C.

Yesterday morning police detained freshman David Edmond Eisenhauer, who is also facing a felony count of abduction. District Attorney Mary Pettit declined to reveal specific evidence, but did say that Eisenhauer did not confess to the crime, nor lead police to the teenager's body, but that they instead discovered her due to tips from both law enforcement and social media. She is believed to have gone missing some time between midnight Tuesday and 7 A.M. Wednesday morning, and had a dresser pushed up against the door of her bedroom. Her family thinks that she then made her way out her window, and her phone is believed to have been turned off after she disappeared

Eisenhauer, who's also an engineering major, was a three-time Maryland state track champ and two-time cross country runner-up. He has been suspended from the university (obviously), and has also had his profile scrubbed from their athletic department's website. He is currently being held without bond.
