The last thing Carmelo Anthony needs right now is more money. An All-Star Game invitation? Yes. A trip back to the NBA Playoffs? Yes. An NBA title? YES. But more money? No. He signed a $124 million contract a couple years ago and makes more than enough money when it comes to endorsements, so he’s set for life.

You can never have too much money, though, right? Well, that’s debatable. But Carmelo seems to be taking that approach because, during an interview with reporters yesterday, he revealed that he has already purchased tickets for the $1.5 billion Powerball drawing that’s set to be held tomorrow. He didn’t reveal how many tickets he bought, but he did explain why he bought the tickets by basically saying, “Why not?”

“I don’t think I’m going to ever get hit by an asteroid,” he said. “I don’t think I’m ever going to be President. I might have a better chance to win Powerball.”

Carmelo also explained that, if he wins, he won’t buy the Knicks from James Dolan. Instead, he’ll share the wealth.

“I’m going to share it all,” he said.

To which we say: “With us?!”

Good luck, Carmelo! You’re going to need it.
