Holly Holmshocked the world when she knocked out Ronda Rousey at UFC 193, and UFC president Dana White knows better than anyone that a rematch would make too much sense.
He confirmed as much in an appearance with Mike & Mike on ESPN radio this morning, and explained his reasoning why -- although due to Rousey's schedule, he's not sure when or where the match will ultimately take place.
"I think that if we didn't make the rematch, me and [UFC CEO] Lorenzo [Fertitta] should probably lose our promoters' license," White said. "Yeah, that fight's going to happen. I don't know when, but that's the fight that will happen."
Rousey's standing in the sport, and her all-around dominance before losing to Holm, make the decision to set up a rematch a no-brainer as far as White is concerned.
"Ronda Rousey has gone undefeated, taken the sport to another level and was beating the best women in the world in 14 seconds or 30 seconds, so she deserves a rematch," he said. "Holly agrees she deserves a rematch, and we'll figure it out."
Rousey was in rough shape after the loss, and was hit with a six-month medical suspension which will force her to take her time with the recovery process. But whenever she's ready to return, White confirmed that a rematch with Holm is definitely in the cards.
