LSU is matching up with Ole Miss today for their annual "Magnolia Bowl." The Tiger-Rebel rivalry goes way back to the days when people delivered telegrams by using horses as their mode of transportation. On Wednesday, LSU head coach Les Miles made a verbal jab at Ole Miss fans by saying he didn't feel playing in Jackson would be too hard:
Perhaps, Les spoke too soon. His fullback Bry’Kiethon Mouton ran the ball into the LSU sidelines and slammed into Miles as Mouton was pushed out of bounds by two Ole Miss defenders.
Brutal, right? Even more so in slow motion.
Going into today's game, Les Miles has been on the hot seat since his team is out of the running for a national championship, after their recent losses to Alabama and Arkansas. And even though he arguably has the best player in the country in Leornard Fournette, and even with two more wins from the next two games, the #15-ranked Tigers could still lose Miles as their head coach regardless.
LSU Board of Supervisor member Ron Anderson stated this about his job status:
“I think if he wins the next two games, it’s still something that needs to be looked at. It’s the way they lost the two games. If he wins them both, that complicates it. That’s my opinion. It’s not just the number of losses, but the quality of the losses. The next two games are really important to deciding the future of the program. And you’ve got to look at the progress of the program from the standpoint of a number of years.”
Getting slammed into the ground by his own team player seems all to symbolic of potentially being slammed and shut out for good by the LSU's administration.
