An oil well?!

Even though college football players bring in millions and millions of dollars for their programs every year, they aren't paid a dime. But apparently, that hasn't stopped them from finding ways to pay their star players over the years.

During an appearance on Highly Questionable yesterday, former football star Marcus Dupree—who attended Oklahoma after a legendary recruitment process that was later documented in an ESPN 30 For 30 documentary called The Best That Never Was—revealed that he received some wild offers while college teams were trying to recruit him back in the early 1980s. According to him, one college program offered him a $250,000 per year salary, while another offered him—get this—AN OIL WELL.

Dupree didn't accept the oil well because, well, what the $&^% is a college kid going to do with an oil well? Also, he says the NCAA was all over him and his family at that time, so he didn't want to risk messing up his eligibility by accepting anything. But this is yet another reminder that, although college athletes aren't technically getting paid, they're probably getting paid in other ways. So why not just pay them the right way?
