This is the first—and hopefully last!—time you will ever find Lil Wayne, Young Thug, Drew Brees, and Matt Ryan in the same story.
At the moment, a lawyer for Jimmy Winfrey—the alleged Young Thug associate who stands accused of firing shots at Lil Wayne’s bus earlier this year—is trying to convince a court that his client did not attempt to kill Wayne. And to do it, he’s using a very strange analogy. He claims that, while rivalries do exist in rap, the idea of Young Thug ordering a hit on Wayne is preposterous. In his mind, it’s as crazy as the idea of two NFL players like Drew Brees and Matt Ryan trying to harm one another simply because of their on-field rivalry.
“Clearly, the New Orleans Saints and Atlanta Falcons are rivals because they are fighting every year to win the same division: the NFC South,” he said recently, according to TMZ Sports. “Yet, this does not provide a motive for Drew Brees to kill or maim Matt Ryan.”
To which we say: Um…what?
Let’s hope that that isn’t the best defense that Winfrey’s lawyers can come up with…
