A secret book of parody songs circulated by members of the Ohio State University marching band contained a wealth of offensive material, including one song which mocked victims of the Holocaust.

Sharon Terlep of The Wall Street Journal has the details:

The Holocaust song, called “Goodbye Kramer,” whose lyrics haven't been previously disclosed, includes lines about Nazi soldiers “searching for people livin’ in their neighbor’s attic,” and a “small town Jew…who took the cattle train to you know where.” It was written to be sung to the tune of the 1981 Journey hit “Don’t Stop Believin’.”

A former band member was interviewed for the piece, and was credited with writing a song about Nebraska which included "antigay jokes and references to sex with animals." He essentially said that it was meant only for a few close friends, and that if he knew it would reach a broader audience, he'd be "horrified by those words."

Just like the rest of us.
