The NBA's $2.7 billion annual TV deal with TNT and ESPN, which will come into effect in 2016, will not only benefit the players currently in the league. It will also help those who have already called it quits. Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports is reporting that the National Basketball Players Association will propose to put somewhere between $10 million to $15 million per year from the new deal towards providing the league's former players with health insurance.

On July 20, the NBPA will hold a membership meeting in Las Vegas, Nev. to vote on passing the plan. However, it is believed that all 30 team player representatives will vote in favor of the initiative. According to Wojnarowski, the NBPA is currently "researching the names and addresses of the approximate 1,500 living ex-players" in the hopes of offering them one of three health care opportunities once the plan goes into effect.
