David West wasn't lying when he said he wanted to play for a contender. The 12-year NBA veteran is signing with the Spurs for the vet's minimum ($1.5 million), forgoing a player option worth upwards of $12 million with the Pacers and turning down a mid-level exception of $5.5 million with the Wizards. It's safe to say that Gregg Popovich and the Spurs are the big winners in free agency this summer.

West joins LaMarcus Aldridge to help San Antonio's core make one more run at the title.

For an aging vet like West who has never played in the Finals and has made about $90 million in his career, winning is priceless. Let's cut to the chase and give the Spurs the Larry O'Brien Trophy today.
