Uruguay Star Edinson Cavani Just Called Jamaica An "African Team"

Uruguay striker Edinson Cavani needs to go back to school for some geography lessons.

The Paris Saint-Germain star was forced to make a public apology yesterday after mistakenly commenting that Jamaica – one of his country's opponents in the Copa America – are an African team.

The Caribbean state shouldn't naturally be part of the Copa America, which is a competition for South American teams, but they've been invited to the tournament to make up the numbers.

Clearly not familiar with his unexpected opponents, Cavani said:


“As any other African team, Jamaica are going to be strong.”

Cavani issued an apology on Twitter as soon as his comments were made public.
