Uruguay striker Edinson Cavani needs to go back to school for some geography lessons.
The Paris Saint-Germain star was forced to make a public apology yesterday after mistakenly commenting that Jamaica – one of his country's opponents in the Copa America – are an African team.
The Caribbean state shouldn't naturally be part of the Copa America, which is a competition for South American teams, but they've been invited to the tournament to make up the numbers.
Clearly not familiar with his unexpected opponents, Cavani said:
“As any other African team, Jamaica are going to be strong.”
Cavani issued an apology on Twitter as soon as his comments were made public.
