Derek Jeter made more money than he'll ever be able to spend during his 19-year MLB career. Just take a look at his career earnings:
And that doesn't even include any of the money he made for pretending to drive cars that he probably didn't drive endorsements. So it's a little surprising, er, make that very surprising to hear that the former Yankees shortstop reportedly goes Dutch when he goes out to eat with his girlfriend Hannah Davis.
According to the New York Daily News, Jeter and Davis are on vacation in Italy right now, and they were spotted eating pizza in Rome when something really strange happened. The bill came, and they asked the waiter to split the tab and put it on their separate black cards:
Jeter — who made hundreds of millions playing for the Yankees — and Davis — who pulls in about $5 million a year modeling — made out and ate pizza near the Spanish Steps in Rome. Then they asked to split the bill, each paying with their AmEx Black Cards.
In fairness, Davis is obviously doing just fine for herself when it comes to finances and can afford to pick up 50 percent of the bill. But don't you feel bad for the waiter in this situation? He has to go through the hassle of writing up two bills and swiping two credit cards for two people who could both afford to just say, "Don't worry about it, I got this." So if this actually happened, let's hope Jeter and Davis teamed up to give the guy one hell of a tip.
