Following Game 3 of the Rockets/Mavericks playoff series on Friday night, Dallas head coach Rick Carlisle was fined $25,000 for criticizing the game's referees. And while he didn't back down from his criticisms in light of the fine, he did take extra precautions after Game 4 last night to avoid getting fined again.

During Carlisle's post-game press conference after the Mavericks knocked off the Rockets 121-109 on Sunday night, the outspoken coach was once again asked about the officiating during the series. But rather than speaking out against the refs, Carlisle chose to take a different approach. He picked up a piece of tape, put it over his mouth, and saved himself 25 stacks:

This wasn't a bad way to handle the situation. He made a statement about the NBA referees without saying a word and saved himself a bunch of money in the process. Good thinking.
