What's with all the Major League Baseball players getting into it with jewelers lately?

Back in November, Red Sox designated hitter David Ortiz sued a jeweler after he allegedly purchased more than $120,000 worth of jewelry that, according to him, turned out to be fake. And now, Twins pitcher Ervin Santana is claiming the same thing. However, in his case, he's the one being sued for $40,000 by a company called Major League Jewelers Inc. that says Santana refused to pay for a bunch of customized necklaces after they were given to him. Santana's lawyer claims his client "did not receive what we bargained for" upon delivery of the jewelry. But the company says that it gave him exactly what he wanted and was not paid for it.

Major League Jewelers has reportedly provided other MLB players like Pablo Sandoval and Aroldis Chapman with jewelry in the past. So it seems strange that they'd risk hurting their business by providing a pro baseball player with fake jewels. But this battle looks like it's headed for court. Stay tuned to see whether or not Santana is forced to pay up.
