Have you had your fill of this year’s NCAA Tournament yet? The opening weekend was wild, and the drama has only increased since. With any luck, the 2015 NCAA Tournament could go down as one of the best this decade. It wouldn’t, however, be able to hold a candle to 2006’s George Mason-led cavalcade of would-be Cinderellas. Or Villanova’s run as an eight seed, culminating in the “perfect” game against Georgetown in 1985. Traditional powers will fall, upstarts will rise to shock the world, and hopefully at the end of it all we’ll be left with a tournament that keeps us talking for years to come.

Founded in 1939, the NCAA Tournament has nearly 80 years of action to look back on. While every year comes with its fair share of shocks and surprises, some years inevitably stand out more than others. From the event’s long and storied history, a handful of years have set themselves apart from the pack, achieving special reverence among basketball fans. Take a closer look at The Top 15 March Madness Tournaments of All Time.
