Frank Kaminsky was Wisconsin's rock, but it was Sam Dekker's right hand bombing away from 3-point land, including his fifth and final 3 that put Arizona away, that is sending the Badgers to their second straight Final Four.
Up just five with 20 seconds left, Dekker pulled up from the right side of the arc, with Rondae Hollis-Jefferson squarely in his face and arm up to contest, and drained a rainbow shot that seemed like it took a year and half to finally swish through the net. It was an unbelievable shot, one whose level of difficulty was so steep that it would seem impossible for Dekker to recreate it even if he tried.
Except for the fact that Dekker hit almost the exact same shot, from the exact same spot, to send his high school to their very first state championship in 2012. Dekker's high school, Sheboygan Area Lutheran, was down two with twelve seconds left when Dekker brought the ball up the court, darted to the right and hit LITERALLY the same shot to win the WIAA Boys Division 5 State Championship in Wisconsin. Even weirder? He hit the shot on Wisconsin's home floor, the Kohl Center, where the state championship was being played.
If you need a reason to understand why sports are awesome, this is probably it.
