Gilbert Arenas and his girlfriend Laura Govan have never been formally married. But they have been together for a long time now. The former NBA player and the Basketball Wives LA star began dating back in 2002, long before he signed a six-year, $111 million contract with the Wizards in 2008. They have four kids together and, until recently, shared a home in California.
However, according to court documents obtained by TMZ Sports, the two split up recently, and their relationship has taken a turn for the worst. Arenas reportedly threw Govan out of the couple's home at the end of 2014 and told her that she wasn't welcome back. Govan also claims that Arenas "forcefully took" a $1 million engagement ring that he gave to her in 2008 and sold it off without giving her any of the profits from the sale. So she's suing him for an undisclosed amount of money and says that Arenas once told her that he would share all of his earnings from 2003 on with her if they ever broke up. She also says that Arenas owns a bunch of marijuana clinics in California, and she wants a cut of their profits as well.
Arenas hasn't responded to the lawsuit that was filed against him just yet. But this sounds like it's going to get ugly. For what it's worth, the couple has run into issues in the past and broken up on several occasions. But it's never resulted in a lawsuit like their latest breakup.
It's a good thing Arenas still has NBA money coming in hand over fist, eh?
