Not Available Lead

A day after FIFA officially announced that the 2022 World Cup in Qatar will be held in the winter, it released its annual earnings report. FIFA, famous for not releasing anything of real value to the press, were more than happy to unload a report full of its financials, because that's the only thing they have going for them these days. All FIFA has is its money, but as this plutocratic world around you will tell you, that's all that matters.

Coming off a World Cup year, FIFA, as expected, made an ungodly amount of money. Like, so much money that Roger Goodell and his NFL fatcats would go all Mr. Krabs if they read through FIFA's financial report. FIFA hauled in $2.096 billion in revenue in 2014, with the majority of that coming via the world Cup. In total, over the three-year World Cup cycle, FIFA made $5.718 billion. 84 percent of that was derived from marketing and television rights contracts.

1.

After expenses, those revenue numbers came out to $337.4 million in profit over the World Cup cycle, and $140.7 million in profit in 2014 alone. Revenues are only expected to increase moving forward, which begs the question: What will be the final ratio of human death to profit for the 2022 World Cup? If the 2022 World Cup magically happened today, and FIFA made another $2 billion from the event, it'd be about $2,000,000 in revenue for every one migrant worker killed in Qatar.

FIFA is evil.
