What makes him smooth: Point guard skills in a big man’s body
Anthony Davis’ late-in-childhood growth spurt (he was a 6’2” point guard as a high school freshman before shooting up eight inches 18 months later) meant that he learned all of the fundamentals of guard play, and then put them to work in the body of a power forward/center. The result? One of the most natural, graceful post players the NBA has had in recent memory. He runs the floor and gets to the rim like a guard, but can elevate and swat your shot into next week like a dominant center. This is a lethal combination that will likely make Davis a league MVP in the not-too-distant future.
