For months now, rumors about Ray Allen's return to the NBA have been all over the map. First, he was signing with the Cavaliers. Then, the Warriors were interested in him. And now, well, it feels like just about every team with a playoff pulse is interested in talking to Allen. Just one problem: Allen doesn't seem ready to make a return to the league.

According to a report that Yahoo! Sports reporter Adrian Wojnarowski just put out, Allen hasn't told his agent that he wants to play in the NBA this season. And that means that his agent hasn't even begun to explore the possibility of him signing with a team before the end of the season. So there's a growing belief amongst NBA executives that Allen won't play in the league this year.

Wojnarowski reveals that several sources have told him that Allen is working out. But he also writes that Allen doesn't seem to be putting in the kind of work that would be necessary for him to be an effective NBA player.

At this point, we don't know what to believe with regards to Allen or his future. But if he doesn't play in the NBA this year—or ever again—we wouldn't be surprised.
