The Miami Heat's worst fears have been realized with the announcement coming today that forward Chris Bosh will indeed miss the rest of the NBA season as he deals with complications from blood clots on his lungs.

What was widely speculated over the last 48 hours or so was confirmed by the Heat today in a short statement they released via their website:

Chris Bosh will miss the remainder of the 2014-15 Season, while being treated for blood clots on his lung.

Bosh, who is receiving care under the guidance of Miami HEAT team physicians at a Baptist Health System Hospital, is currently resting comfortably. Chris is OK and his prognosis is good.

The good news here is that Bosh is going to be fine. Anytime you hear "blood clots" and any part of the body in the same sentence, it's slightly terrifying. The bad news is that after acquiring point guard Goran Dragić during the trade deadline, the Heat were poised to make a run in the Eastern Conference. Looks like that plan might have to be put on hold until next season.
