PSG striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic is hardly short on confidence, but according to teammate Marco Verratti, he once compared himself to Jesus to inspire the team.
Speaking to Four Four Two, the Italian midfielder said that before a game against Lyon, Ibrahimovic told coach Carlo Ancelotti to put their faith in him like they would in religion.
"Carlo Ancelotti was a bit tense, so Ibra approached him and asked him if he believed in Jesus. Ancelotti said yes, so Ibra told him: 'Good, so you believe in me. You can relax!'”
Verratti went on to say that his ego is part of what makes him so great. “Zlatan is like this – he has a lot of self-confidence. This helps him to be a great player.”
