A few weeks ago, Texans player Jadeveon Clowney got caught "liking" a girl's photo on Instagram in the middle of a game. Clowney wasn't actually involved in the game because of the knee injury that he sustained earlier this season. But he still managed to catch hell from Texans fans who thought that he should have been more focused on the game and less focused on Instagram while his team was playing.

Now, J.R. Smith is under fire for allegedly doing almost the same thing. He didn't "like" any photos. But according to the @KnicksMemes Twitter account, Smith apparently followed a girl named @sidneydean as well as a few other Instagram accounts in the middle of the Knicks loss to the Spurs last night. Smith wasn't playing in the game, so it's not like he was following people on IG during timeouts. But according to the screenshot that @KnicksMemes posted, he followed them nonetheless and did so in the middle of the game:

In fairness to Smith, we can't really blame him too much if he did, in fact, spend time on Instagram during last night's loss to the Spurs. If we were him, we'd probably prefer poking around on IG to watching the Knicks play, too. But can't these athletes at least try to be discreet when it comes to using social media during games? Save the "follows" and "likes" for after the game, guys.
