Surely, this is not how senior Texas A&M defensive back Howard Matthews imagined the final game of his college career going. Midway through the first quarter of the Liberty bowl against West Virginia, Matthews, A&M's leading tackler with 82 total this year, was ejected for targeting defenseless receiver Jordan Thompson. Following the decision to remove the safety from the game, Matthews left the field, cheering, clapping and trying to amp the crowd up. At that point, A&M was up 7-0. They're now down 7-17.
